Highway Patrol
— Kearstin Nelson, of Garfield Road in Petersburg, was cited at 7:50 a.m. Aug. 19 in Fairfield Township, after striking another vehicle driven by Kymberly Seabolt, of Crestview Road in New Waterford, while trying to turn onto Raley Road from state Route 517 and forcing her off the road into a utility pole.
— Another unidentified driver is sought in regard to a two-vehicle crash at 6:11 p.m. Aug. 15 in Madison Township. The suspect vehicle was westbound on Township Road 875, while Gary Ellis, of Youngstown, was traveling eastbound on Township Road 875. Ellis was hit by the unidentified driver’s vehicle, which had traveled left of center and sideswiped his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
— Elizabeth Charlton, of Louisville, was cited at 11:25 p.m. Aug. 10 in Unity Township for reasonable control, after she traveled off the left side of Padgett Road, striking a tree and fence post.
Leetonia
— Village police provided mutual aid for the city of Columbiana, responding at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 29 to the first block of West Park Street to investigate a possible unresponsive male in a parked gray Cadillac at the Marathon station. There was no plate on the vehicle, dispatch reported. Upon arrival, the above vehicle could not be located.
— Police responded to investigate a reckless driver eastbound on state Route 344 at 9:04 p.m. Aug. 24. The maroon Chevy Malibu was reportedly all over the road and brake checking the female caller, heading eastbound on 344. The caller pulled up behind the responding officer, who was already in the area, blocking her in so she couldn’t get behind the suspect vehicle. The officer passed the information along to Ohio Highway Patrol through dispatch.
— No citations were issued for a two-vehicle private property crash at 9:25 p.m. Aug. 23 in the parking lot of the Eagles, 200 block of Main Street.
— Jesse Bell advised that a red Subaru driven by Jordan Lewis backed into his blue GMC. The caller advised his vehicle had sustained minor front bumper damage and needed a report for his insurance. Lewis provided her driver’s license and proof of insurance.
— James Hall, no additional information provided, reported at 4:51 p.m. Aug. 27 that the front door was open to a condemned house he owns in the first block of Washington Street. Upon officer contact, there was no one inside, but there are definite signs there has been activity there despite there shouldn’t be any. The basement door had been busted open from the outside.
— A resident of Hazel Street reported at 7:53 p.m. Aug. 28 that her neighbors are burning trash. An officer arrived and located a fire ring in the neighbor’s yard but they were not currently utilizing it.
— Dispatch reported a reckless driver at 8:57 p.m. Aug. 23 near Columbia and Home Streets, advising a silver Expedition swerved and almost hit a couple walking a dog. An officer responded to the area and could not located the vehicle.
East Palestine
— Officers responded to the city park at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday to a report of a full-size truck driving recklessly. Officers located the vehicle and identified the river who denied the accusations. The driver was given a warning and advised that multiple cameras are placed throughout the park.
— Officers followed up a report from a woman at 6:28 p.m. on Wednesday who stated money was missing from her New Waterford home. She was advised to make a report with the Columbiana County Sheriff regarding the matter.
— Officers responded at 1:16 p.m. on Wednesday to Huntington Bank on North Market Street for a domestic dispute between a male and a female. Officers separated the parties and determined no violence had occurred. The female, along with a minor child, was transported to the police station to make arrangements to stay elsewhere for the night.
— Officers responded at 12:27 p.m. on Wednesday to East Clark Street regarding an individual unknown to her trying to establish residency at her address by having mail sent there. A report was taken.
— Officers responded at 7:36 p.m. on Monday to Garfield Avenue for a disturbance.
— Officers responded at the Circle K on North Market Street at 10:13 p.m. on Sunday to a report of threats being made.
— Officers responded to East Martin Street for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with all parties involved and it was determined the altercation was verbal, not physical.
— Officers assisted the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office with a call in East Palestine jurisdiction on North Avenue at 12:24 a.m. on Sunday.
— Officers spoke to an East Main Street resident at 7:37 p.m. on Aug. 24 after the resident requested advice.
— Officers took a report at 7:54 p.m. on Aug. 24 of a playground being damaged at the East Palestine Elementary School on West Grant Street.
— Officers responded at 8:51 a.m. to a report of a fight in the parking lot of McDonalds on South Market Street on Aug. 24. It was determined the altercation was not physical and both parties involved cleared the scene.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 300 block of South Broadway Avenue at 3:02 a.m. Friday for a report of a person dumpster diving. Officers advised the person to speak with the owners in the morning and request permission. The person agreed and left for the night.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Columbia Street at 1:40 a.m. Friday for a reported stolen vehicle. The caller advised that her vehicle was stolen by a known man. Officers entered the vehicle into LEADS.
— While on a previous call officers observed a woman with a known warrant in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street at 12:31 a.m. Friday. The warrant was confirmed through the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and the woman, Sue Leclerc, was taken into custody and officers met a deputy at a nearby business.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 12:04 a.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a man was seen in the backyard near a neighbor’s truck and was also near a neighbor’s window. Officers checked the area for the person but did not locate them.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East State Street at 11:23 p.m. Thursday for a report of a suspicious person officers located the man and was picked up by a friend.
— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 11:13 p.m. Thursday to inquire if something could be done about her daughter placing notes on a vehicle parked on the roadway.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of West Wilson Street at 10:37 p.m. Thursday for a reported noise complaint. Officers spoke with the resident and advised them to keep it down for the night. Officers found later that one of the people at the residence had an active warrant out of Columbiana County and took the woman Jessica Hill, 41, Salem, into custody and transported her directly to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Morris Avenue at 8:12 p.m. Thursday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with all involved parties and found the juvenile in the residence was responsible for creating the issue. Officers collected information and the juvenile was pink slipped to Akron Children’s for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 1500 block of Cleveland Street at 7:57 p.m. for a wellness check on a dog that the caller advised had been crying for a few hours. Officers spoke with the owner who advised that the dog’s sister had died the day before.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 7:20 p.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The woman was located, and she advised that she was just out walking.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 6:28 p.m. Thursday for a reported medical emergency on the street. Officers and first responders arrived and provided aid prior to transporting the person in question for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 6:25 p.m. Thursday for a noise complaint. Officers spoke with the man in question who advised he was angry due to his mail always being misplaced. Officers advised him to contact the post office about the issue.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Jennings Avenue at 6:06 p.m. Thursday for a reported hit and skip. Officers spoke with the caller and collected photos of the mailbox that was hit. Officers collected the information, and officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Franklin Street at 5:47 p.m. Thursday for a reported theft. The caller advised that while he was at work someone had cut a hole in his green house and stole a marijuana plant.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Seventh Street at 4:39 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. The caller advised her mother refused to be transported to the hospital. Officers were unable to contact the mother and did not observe the vehicle the caller advised her mother had in the driveway.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of Home Circle at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for a reported dog bite. The caller advised that while walking his dog around the neighborhood the neighbor’s dog had come out of the garage and attacked his dog causing a small cut on its neck. Officers spoke with the neighbor who verified that their dog had gotten out and went after the neighbor’s dog. Officers advised both owners that a copy of the report would be sent to the health department.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 1:43 p.m. Thursday for a reported criminal damaging report. The caller advised that an unknown person broke out the front window of his rental property and officers checked inside and did not locate anyone. An extra watch was put in place for the unit.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of East State Street at 12:19 p.m. Thursday to assist the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. When officers arrived the person in question was taken into custody without incident and $260 was seized and the person was transported to the Columbiana County Jail by Ohio State Highway Patrol.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Pearce Circle at 10:08 a.m. Thursday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that when she walks on Highland Avenue in the morning an older man pulls up next to her and won’t leave her alone. She just wanted the matter to be documented at that time
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Jennings Avenue at 9:40 a.m. Thursday for a report of an illegally parked vehicle. Officers spoke with the owner who advised the vehicle had broken down and they were in the process of getting it removed.
Goshen
— Charlie Middleton, 38, Salem, was cited for speeding after her westbound vehicle on West South Range Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 1:32 a.m. Wednesday.
— Maria Sargent, 19, Salem, was cited for speeding and following too closely after her northbound vehicle on Youngstown-Salem Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit and within one car length or less of another vehicle at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday.
— Jonathan Wachtel, 49, Wooster, was cited for speeding after his westbound vehicle on Garfield Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday.
— Nicholas Michaels, 20, Lisbon was cited for speeding after his westbound vehicle on West South Range Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 5:41 a.m. Tuesday.
— Officers responded to the Salem Hills Golf Course at 3:40 p.m. Aug. 26. For a report of a man who was sleeping in a golf cart. Officers awakened him and advised the golf course management reported he was causing issues which he denied. Officers spoke with an employee who advised that the man had come in and had been acting strangely and bothering other customers. Officers asked the man for his information which he refused to provide but ultimately gave officers his ID. The employees requested the man be removed and not return, which officers advised the man of, and he agreed to. Officers asked him if he had any family in the area and he said he did not. When asked where he was, he said that he was somewhere in Pennsylvania, and that it was August of 1989, but changed his answer to 2024. The fire department was requested to respond to check on the man and ensure it was safe for him to be dropped off in the city. When the fire department arrived, the man refused any treatment signing a refusal form, and was transported to a business in Salem and warned not to return to the golf course or he would be arrested for trespassing.
— Zachary Davenport, 31, Austintown was charged with OVI and cited for speeding after his northbound vehicle on Youngstown Salem Road was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 11:49 p.m. Aug. 24.
— Terry Rescola, 54, Strongsville, was cited for speeding after his northbound vehicle on state Route 14 was observed traveling in excess of the speed limit at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 24.
