Patrol issues reports from August crashes

LISBON — The results of the blood drug toxicology report conducted after a fatal motorcycle crash in August found multiple drugs in the system of the victim, the highway patrol reported Friday.

On Aug. 12, Eugene A. Young, McKees Rocks, Pa., 27, died after he was ejected off his motorcycle after he lost control while attempting to pass two other vehicles on state Route 172 in Hanover Township. He was flown from the scene to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The initial report did not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the crash, but the blood toxicology report found significant amounts of methamphetamine, amphetamine and marijuana in Young’s system at the time of the crash, the patrol said. Young was wearing a helmet at the time, but it is suspected that his chin strap was not fastened.

The patrol also released information from another accident that occurred in August. Stacie Saracco, of Wellsville, 30, was charged this week for OVI, child endangering and a marked lanes violation after she failed to drive within marked road lines and struck a construction barrel with her children in the vehicle, ages 1 and 7, on state Route 11 in Fairfield Township on Aug. 11.

On Jan. 14, the patrol said, results of the drug test conducted at the time of the crash came back positive for amphetamine, cocaine, methemphetamine, fentanyl, morphine, alprazolam and codeine.
