Columbiana County Common Pleas

LISBON — In Common Pleas Court, Harley D. Falkner, 27, Calcutta-Smith Ferry Road, East Liverpool, was sentenced to a year in prison for having weapons while under a disability. Falkner had a credit of 130 days in jail already served. On July 23, Falkner had a loaded Hi-Point .45 caliber pistol, when he has a prior conviction for a crime in Trumbull County when he was still a child, which would have been a felony if committed by an adult.

Hayden S. Miller, 28, state Route 45, Leetonia, was sentenced to a term of incarceration at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center until the program is completed when he appeared for sentencing Monday on two counts of possession of drugs. He will then be on three-years community control. Miller had both methamphetamines and clonazepam, both in amounts less than the bulk amount, on Aug. 5, 2016.

Ashley M. Messenger, 31, Cunningham Road, Salem, pleaded guilty to obstructing justice and was immediately sentenced to 180 days in jail and then placed on two years community control. Messenger assisted another person committing a felony level counterfeiting crime to avoid apprehension on June 13.

Raymond B. Edgell, 45, Old Lincoln Highway, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to theft, a first-degree misdemeanor and lesser offense than the fifth-degree felony he was initially charged. Edgell was sentenced to 180 days in jail, but the jail time was suspended and he was placed on two years unsupervised community control. Edgell had been unfairly collecting unemployment benefits between June 29, 2011 and Aug. 17, 2013, before he was indicted by the grand jury in March of 2014. He was ordered to pay $4,800 in restitution to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services during his two-years of community control.
