Columbiana County Common Pleas

LISBON — A New Waterford-area man charged with assaulting a police officer pleaded guilty to the charge among others in county Common Pleas Court.

Jack L. Dunham Jr., 59, of Riffle, pleaded guilty as charged to assaulting a Lisbon police officer, a fourth-degree felony, resisting arrest and criminal damaging. Charges of possessing criminal tools and disorderly conduct were dropped by the county prosecutor’s office as part of the plea deal.

Dunham is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 10.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred last November when police responded to a call and discovered the Dunham used a coat hanger in an attempt to break into Eric J. Davis’ Land Rover. After being arrested, Dunham continued to resist and struck officer Sarina Stacey in the face while she was trying to get him into a police cruiser.

In other court action, Dawn M. Johnson, 48, Green-Beaver Road, Salem, is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 27 after pleading guilty to separate charges of drug possession involving the fentanyl-related compound tramadol in November 2018 and again in December 2018.

Dawna M. Wright, 48, Martin Avenue, East Liverpool, is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 10 after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine on May 2, 2018.

Kendall L. “Kush” Smith Jr., 25, of Youngstown, is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 28 after pleading guilty to possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine and aggravated possession of the drug oxycodone. He was found in possession of these drugs at the Lisbon Days Inn on Jan. 14, 2019. A charge of obstructing police business was dropped as part of the plea deal.

Felicia A. Baggett, 50, of Youngstown, was sentenced to three years probation/counseling after pleading guilty of one county of cocaine possession. The crime occurred on June 10, 2018.
