Update given on New Manchester shooting
NEW CUMBERLAND W.Va –The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department has passed their investigation into the Aug. 14 New Manchester shooting to the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecuting Attorney James Davis Jr. reported the shooter, Michael McClanahan, 45, has had his preliminary hearing at the Magistrates Court. His case has been bound over to the County Circuit Court. Currently he is facing three counts of malicious wounding, the fourth count was dismissed. He is being held in the Northern Regional Jail under a $150,000 bond. McClanahan has also been charged previously for misdemeanors offense.
Davis doesn’t believe the final report is in yet, but expects it will be complete soon. Davis said McClanahan should be included in the January 2020 grand jury indictments. Davis reported they are still determining the amount and nature of the charges.
