COLUMBIANA COUNTY COMMON PLEAS

LISBON — A New Springfield man pleaded guilty in county Common Pleas Court to breaking into two properties near Unity Township last year.

Dale L. Lowe, 28, broke into the garage of Shelly McLaughlin, Dickson Road, Petersburg, in May 2018 and stole several items, including a tool set and weed wacker. A week later, he and an accomplice threw concrete blocks through the window of the Swift Mart, State Road, Unity Township, and stole several cartons of cigarettes.

Lowe is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 12 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

In other court news, Christopher C. Bowersock, 36, Oak Drive, Wellsville, is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11 after pleading guilty to possessing chemicals used to manufacture drugs and smuggling drugs into the county jail.

Bowersock and his girlfriend were found with chemicals in backpack commonly used to manufacture meth — lithium batteries, Coleman fuel, ammonia nitrate beads, drain cleaner and sulfuric acid. This occurred on Dec. 1 at a laundromat in Columbiana.

While incarcerated at the county jail last June, Bowersock’s girlfriend attempted to give him a container of contact lens fluid, but the staff found an orange strip and pill hidden in the container. The items later tested positive for buprenorphine.
