Sex charge dismissed after county man marries alleged victim
SALEM — A Salem man facing a gross sexual imposition charge had his case dismissed after he married the alleged victim.
According to Mahoning County court records, Sheldon Ludt, 22, was charged with the third-degree misdemeanor by Washingtonville police in April.
News reports from WFMJ Channel 21 originally stated that Ludt’s mother told police he was forcing the 19-year-old woman to have sex with him.
However, the charge was dismissed last week after it was found that Ludt and the alleged victim had married before the court hearing and she did not wish to proceed with the case.
Ludt married Deana Renee Burris, also of Salem, on Aug. 7 at Salem City Hall, according to the marriage license on file through the Columbiana County Probate Court.
The license was granted on Aug. 6.
