Fire under investigation
SALINEVILLE — A porch fire at an abandoned East Main Street house early Saturday is under investigation.
Salineville Police Chief Matthew Devlin said garbage was set on fire while it was sitting on the porch, but no accelerant was used. Firefighters from the Salineville, Franklin Township and Highlandtown departments were called and the fire was quickly extinguished.
Devlin said there is no electricity turned on to the house and no one was hurt. Neighbors saw the glow from the porch on the northeast side of the property at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday and called dispatchers. The sheriff’s office also responded.
