Homeowners neglecting their yards could receive nuisance property letters
LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP –Township Trustee Mike Bahen said during Tuesday’s meeting of the Liverpool Township trustees, that it was getting to be that time of year again and it looks like the township will have to start mailing out nuisance property letters to homeowners that are not cutting their grass.
It was noted that it seems the letters go out to the same people every year.
Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati said that she had completed and reconciled the bank reconciliation for the month of April, and she has the numbers ready for the 2026 budget and will be meeting with department heads to discuss what their departments will need.
Fire Chief Dave Ward was not present at the meeting so Trustee Keith Burke who serves as the liaison between the township and the fire department said that Ward reported squad 24 is in the process of getting the fuel system checked to find out why it keeps shutting down.
Police Chief Jarod Kinemond requested and was granted authorization to purchase gloves for the police department. He is looking at purchasing three different sizes and estimates the cost to be less than $400.
Road Department Supervisor Chris Bosworth said that the tree trimming on Armstrong Lane is done and it went well, and the creek at Hudson Street has been shored up and looks good.
Bosworth also noted that the F250 truck he drives is scheduled to go in to have the brakes checked and the 2006 truck is fixed.
With all the recent rain the department has been busy cleaning up after storms and clearing ditches, which could put them behind in mowing, so Bosworth requested to be allowed to hire part-time employee for the road department to help with the mowing and other duties.
The trustees adopted resolutions to supplement appropriations in the amount of $741.50 for the Police, Fire and Road and Bridge District Funds for property insurance premiums.
Bills totaling $52,385.27 were approved for payment.
There was no old business or anyone for the public speaking portion of the meeting.
The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3p.m. at the Township Administration Building. The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 27.
