CHESTER — Music aficionados will notice a new look at the Chester City Park, when attending concerts there this summer.

A custom mesh backdrop has been added to further improve the experience, when the Tuesday night concert series returns in June.

Starting on June 10, a different band will play every other Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. through the end of August.

There is no admission charge.

Organizer Don Murray explained that the series has existed since the community stakeholders built the park stage initially for annual events like the city’s Independence Day festivities.

He tried to book a variety of hometown favorites from mostly country and rock, which appeals to the local audience.

Money from mounted sponsorship signs sold along Badgley Pavilion fund the concerts, paying for the talent and rental of sound equipment.

Scheduled performers include The Chillbillyz, June 10; The Fantasy’s, Jun 24; Mad River Men, July 8; Rumors; July 22; The Wells Brothers featuring Asa Brewer, Aug. 5; and the Full Circle Band, Aug. 19.

On behalf of the park board, Murray offered appreciation for all the civic-minded sponsors, such as the Chester Volunteer Fire Department, city’s American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, and vendors like Campbell’s efforts that improve the concerts every year.

Starting at $2.99/week.
