EAST LIVERPOOL — Vincent Pitzulo was unanimously approved by the East Liverpool City Schools Board of Education to serve as the associate principal of East Liverpool Jr.-Sr. High School for the 2025-2026 school year.

Pitzulo will be succeeding Randy Taylor who is retiring at the end of the current school year.

Pitzulo is described by the district as a passionate experienced educator with a strong background in middle-level education, curriculum development and student engagement.

He is currently teaching sixth-grade math at Westgate Middle School.

“He has been instrumental in helping students meet academic standards while fostering an inclusive and structured learning environment,” a media release from the district said.

Before coming to East Liverpool City Schools to teach, Pitzulo taught third and fourth grade at Youngstown Academy of Excellence, where according to the media release, “he played a key role in adapting instruction during the pandemic, developing curriculum and support student growth.”

Pitzulo obtained a Bachelor of Science in Middle Level Education at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University in September 2024. He holds multiple certifications including an Ohio four-year Resident Instructor License in Middle Childhood (grades four through nine) and a Pennsylvania Certification in Middle Level Education.

“Beyond his work in the classroom, Pitzulo has shown a strong commitment to mentorship and leadership as the head baseball coach and trainer for the Ohio Glaciers, where he has guided young athletes in teamwork, discipline, and personal development,” the media release said. “His ability to connect with students, foster academic and personal growth, and create engaging learning environments will be invaluable in his new position.”

Pitzulo said he is looking forward to collaboration with the staff, students and families to continue fostering a positive, dynamic, student-centered learning environment.

Pitzulo and his wife Janie have a son, Luca, and another due soon.

“I am excited to hire homegrown talent, and an added benefit is Vincent’s knowledge of the students he has already taught and built relationships with at Westgate,” Superintendent Jonathan Ludwig said. “It is apparent that he has the ability to develop strong rapport and values a competitive spirit in the classroom. His leadership will be an asset to East Liverpool Jr.-Sr. High School.”
