Trustees approve purchase of two new trucks

Township trustees have approved the purchase of two news trucks for the road department.

Following an executive session requested by Road Superintendent Chris Bosworth for the purpose of discussing a purchase for the township during the trustees’ meeting Tuesday, the trustees unanimously voted to approve the purchase of the two new trucks.

The two trucks, which will come complete with plows, will cost a total of $457,002.24.

During the open session of the meeting, Bosworth told the trustees that he needed approval to purchase more limestone and ash for the roads after using their supply for the recent winter storms. He noted that the #8 limestone that they typically use is unavailable, but he could get #9 limestone for the same price. The trustees approved the purchase of 100 tons of #9 limestone and 100 tons of ash.

Police Chief Jarod Kinemond said that he finished his year-end report, completed vehicle inventory and is checking out the department’s older cars.

Fire Chief Dave Ward said he had another firefighter going to the inspector’s training with him.

Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati said she completed the December bank reconciliation and finished filing the mandatory quarter and year end reports.

The trustees approved two resolutions which included reallocating appropriations for the Fire District Fund for 2024 in the amount of $277.43 and the annual conversion plan for OPERS or 2025.

Bills and warrants totaling $69,261.77 were approved for payment.

The East Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the township administration office. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 4.
