Liverpool Twp. police utilize county-wide mobile crisis unit
LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Police Chief Jarod Kinemond told trustees during Tuesday’s Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meeting that his department started working with the mobile crisis unit operated through the Columbiana County Mental Health Board.
The Liverpool Township Police Dept. is the second department in the southern portion of Columbiana County to team up with the unit for assistance in drug, homelessness or mental health calls. The first department was St. Clair Township.
Members of the unit have spent some time riding along with township officers to get to know them better and give the officers a chance to discover how they can be of assistance.
Two executive sessions were called to discuss the purchase or sale of property and confidential business information of an applicant for economic development assistance.
The trustees reconvened in open session and voted to allow Road Department Superintendent Chris Bosworth to research the purpose of new trucks for the department and the sale of the department’s old one. Bosworth will report back on the matter at a later meeting.
There was no action taken from the second session.
Trustee Mike Bahen wanted to thank the residents who took the time to purchase and deliver water and Gatorade to the fire fighters responding to the brush fire on Dresden Avenue two weeks ago.
Trustees approved requests from Bosworth and Kinemond to purchase tires for vehicles in their departments.
Also approved were four resolutions to supplement appropriations: two for the General Fund in the amounts of $150 and $600 for telephone line item and contracted service line item; $600 for the Road Bridge Fund; contracted service line item and for the Fire District Fund, in the amount of $1,200 for contracted service line item.
Warrants and EFTs totaling $54,667,48 were approved for payment.
The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Township Administration Building. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 12.
