East Liverpool will begin accepting bids to purchase police cruisers
EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool is going to begin the bidding process to purchase police cars. At a safety committee meeting Friday afternoon, Police chief John Lane requested three cruisers for the police department. “I’ve had four cars go down recently,” he said. “I’m going to need cruisers. I’m asking for three. When I look around they’re all about $40,000 or $42,000, that area. To get them here and outfitted correctly, it’s going to be about $62,000 per car.”
Auditor Marilyn Bosco said, due to state regulations, anything over $50,000 must go through bidding. “The state has cracked down on us,” Bosco said. “It doesn’t matter what vendor, what fund, what project. Any one company over $50,000 has to be bid out.”
The committee has opted to post for bids in Farm and Dairy newspaper to begin the process.
