Break the Silence Run

Steel Valley Guardians of the Children will host the second annual Break the Silence Run Aug. 7. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the first bike out at noon, starting and ending at Elks Lodge #258, 620 Broadway St., East Liverpool. Cost is $20 per rider or $25 with a passenger. The event includes a Chinese auction, entertainment, drinks and food with DJ Overkill Albert Buchheit. Steel Valley Guardians of the Children’s mission is to recognize and react to child abuse and educate the public to do the same; to serve as advocates to provide strength and stability to families in crisis; and to be an answer to the prayer of an abused child or teen for courage, support and protection.

EL Fire Department open house

The East Liverpool Fire Department will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the Jazz and BBQ Festival in downtown Aug. 14 at the central fire station on Broadway.

Columbiana Uncorked 2021

Local musicians The Conkle Brothers and Leanne Binder are slated to perform during the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau’s (CATB) Columbiana Uncorked 2021 from 4 to 9 p.m. Sept. 25 at Firestone Farms, 101 Town Center Ave. The event will feature juried arts and crafts; food trucks Babcia’s Lunchbox, Roxbury Pizza and What’s Grandpa Smokin; plus samplings from regional wineries. Space is limited. Columbiana Uncorked 2021 wristbands are $25 advance or $30 at the gate and include a commemorative glass, tasting booklet and 10 tasting tickets: https://bit.ly/ColumbianaUncorked2021. Additional sample tickets, wine by-the-glass tickets and bottles-to-go will be available for purchase. Guests must be 21 and over to participate. Advance sale wristbands will be available for pick-up at the gate during the event. Uncorked adheres to local, state and federal Covid-19 mandates in place on 9/25/21. Upcoming chip and seal

LISBON — The Columbiana County Engineer’s Office has announced roadways it will be chip and sealing in the coming weeks.

In Salem Township the following roads are scheduled: Lisbon Road, Salem Grange, Jersey Ridge and Butcher Road.

In the Village of Leetonia various small alleys are scheduled.

Fairfield township has scheduled portions of Metz Road, Kelly Park, Bonesville School Road, Bunker Hill Road, Crestview Road and Applesway.

The County Chip and Seal Program is a unique cooperative program between engineer’s office and the townships where the county furnishes the equipment, personnel as well as providing some financial assistance for the project. The townships are responsible for preparing the roadways and purchasing the majority of the materials.
