NEGLEY — A young passenger lost her life on state Route 154 Thursday evening after the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle.

Going into a curve westbound out of Negley, the Chevrolet Cavalier reportedly struck a guardrail, rolled multiple times and went airborne shearing a telephone pole before coming to rest next to the hillside.

The highway patrol and coroner were called to the scene shortly after the arrival of the Middleton Township Fire Department. Firefighters had to cut the vehicle to pull the passenger from the car.

The driver survived the crash. Neither the driver nor the passenger were being identified at the scene. The state highway patrol had several troopers investigating the crash scene and had not yet completed notification of the family.

At about 8 p.m. the Ohio Department of Transportation closed the road between state Route 7 and Gorby’s in Negley.
