Man charged with burglarizing home of Wellsville mayor

LISBON –A Wellsville man was in county Municipal Court on Friday facing charges after he reportedly broke into the home of the village mayor late in the evening in September.

An Oct. 22 preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jonathan M. Pullie, 45, of Broadway, Wellsville, charged with burglary after he allegedly trespassed into the 10th Street, Wellsville, home of Mayor Nancy Murray. Murray reportedly was sleeping on the couch on Sept. 19 when she was awakened by her dog barking. She found Pullie standing above her.

According to Police Chief Eddie Wilson, Pullie’s presence scared Murray and she screamed. Pullie then reportedly ran out of the house. She was able to identify him to police.

Wilson said he does not know a reason why Pullie walked into that home, but he has done similar things in the past. When police picked him up at the time, he was not able to go to the jail because he appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. Instead he was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 21 on the burglary charge and was just served this week.

Pullie appeared for video arraignment before Judge Katelyn Dickey Friday morning. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety and Pullie remains in custody, but should he make bond condition he was ordered to have no further contact with Murray.
