Thompson Park board prepares for upcoming levy campaign

EAST LIVERPOOL – The Thompson Park board of commissioners met for 43 minutes on Sept. 3 to outline the accomplishments made possible for a levy that is coming up for renewal in November.

Thanks to the levy, board members actually were able to purchase a backhoe, F350 truck, F150 truck, utility vehicle, a multi-functional vehicle and various pieces of equipment, such as weed eaters and chain saws for the park. During the meeting, they voted to purchase a $600 leaf blower as well.

Other work completed includes five roads paved, fencing around the baseball field and a new backstop, new garage doors at the park buildings and new restrooms, which will be built in 2021.

Board members also discussed the recent retirement of Dave Quarterman also retired after 30 years of service as the assistant park superintendent.

The next meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 in council chambers.
