Electronics drop-off event will be by appointment only
LISBON — The annual electronics drop-off event for Columbiana County residents will be conducted entirely by appointment.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 27, and those wanting to schedule an appointment can call 330-627-7311.
Following is a list of electronics that will be accepted at no cost. There is a $5 charge for the tube style TVs and the rear projectors.
Items accepted for free are calculators, computers, copy machines, notebooks, CRT/LCD monitors, cameras, keyboards/mice, scanners, CD/DVD/VCR players, cell phones, laptops, typewriters, printers, fax machines and stereo equipment.
Appliances will not be accepted, nor any electronics with freon, such as air conditioners and dehumidifiers. Those can be taken to Solomon’s Scrap & Salvage on state Route 14 west of Salem.
County Commissioner Tim Weigle announced the event at this past week’s board meeting. He said the location of the drop-off will be revealed when you call for an appointment.
The popular annual event is usually held at the county fairgrounds, but Weigle said the turnout was much that it would create a traffic jam, which is what they are trying to avoid with the appointment-only plan.
The event is hosted by the solid waste district that serves Columbiana, Carroll and Harrison counties. Commissioners from each county make up the board.
