Every grading period Garfield Elementary hosts Partners in Education, PIE, Nights. There were 116 children and 87 adults in attendance at Tuesday’s event. They were once called family nights, but they have been renamed to better represent all the individuals who support students during their education.

The events are free to attend, and have educational activities revolving around a theme. Tuesday evening’s PIE Night was themed “We Are Thankful” in honor of Thanksgiving.

Garfield Elementary Principal Lisa Ferguson reported they have been holding these events for about 15 years. The other schools in the Wellsville School District also host family events and Daw Elementary’s Family STEM Night will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. “It’s a great opportunity for family members to engage with each other and with the school family,” said Ferguson.
