EAST LIVERPOOL — At North Elementary School, close to 50 volunteers showed up to help with Part II of the ‘Sensory Pathways and Games’ playground art project. Volunteers were able to create sensory movement paths for learning.

With so much support we were able to complete the playground area which now boasts two agility and activity trails. They include running, spinning, balancing, hopping, jumping jacks, counting, letters, and even waving and smiling. Other games include Leap Frog,4 squares, tic tac toe, a maze, Chutes and Ladders, circle game, rock paper scissors, duck duck goose, and Mirror Me. Headed by, and the vision of Megan Hoffrichter Hernandez and Lora Russell, this project blossomed quickly and will soon be expanded to include the North Elementary sensory garden. Mapping, drawing and coordinating with all of the volunteers doing the painting and even adding their own artistic touches. Overall, the children now have countless learning and physical activities in the playground area. The feedback has been incredible and witnessing the kids excitement and joy gave us our verdict – a huge success. This new and improved playground is truly special for ALL students of North Elementary to enjoy.
