Time passes at hospital for deputies and inmate

LISBON — A Columbiana County Jail inmate who claimed to have swallowed eight razor blades on Sunday remained hospitalized on Thursday.

According to a jail report provided to Sheriff Ray Stone, Brandon Huff told guards at 11:36 p.m. Sunday he had swallowed the razor blades. Jail staff scanned Huff and determined there was something inside him.

He was transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center where sheriff’s deputies have been staying around the clock near Huff while the razor blades work through his system.

Huff, 24, of Minerva, is serving a 180-day sentence imposed on July 15 when he appeared in county Municipal Court on an assault charge. He also was scheduled for a plea hearing in Common Pleas Court today in a case where he is charged with two fifth-degree felony counts of domestic violence.
