Big Oak: protection order violated, new charges added

EAST LIVERPOOL — A Y&O Road resident is out on bond pending a pretrial on two charges of violating a protection order.

Sherman A. Pritt Jr. was in East Liverpool Municipal Court for his initial court appearance Friday, after being accused Wednesday of being involved in two incidents in St. Clair Township.

According to police reports, an ex-girlfriend reported shortly before 6 a.m. that Pritt allegedly attempted to run her off Y&O Road, which was videotaped by a female passenger in her vehicle. When watched, the video showed him passing her on a double yellow line, cutting them off and slamming on the brakes before exiting his vehicle and yelling before the victim backed her car out and fled the scene.

Hours later, the ex-girlfriend once again was talking to police, when Pritt allegedly drove past Hoge’s restaurant in violation of the protection order, which had been served on him previously. The woman relayed that she feared he would harm her.

She is the victim in a pending criminal damaging case from earlier this year.

After the law director agreed to charge, Pritt posted bond and will return for a pretrial at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 28.

He is already pending sentencing Aug. 30 as one of the 102 persons secretly indicted during the Operation Big Oak investigation, having pled guilty last year to two counts of aggravated drug possession involving fentanyl and heroin as part of a plea deal.

These three new charges could carry additional penalties if he is convicted.
