Busy Beaver Assumes Ownership and Operations of Three Sons’ True Value Hardware in Minerva, Ohio

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — May 2019 – Pittsburgh-based Busy Beaver home improvement retailer has assumed ownership of Three Sons’ True Value Hardware at 16400 Bayard Rd, Minerva, Ohio. It will become branded as True Value of Minerva. It is Busy Beaver’s 24th location in its portfolio of stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, and the company’s third True Value branded store. Busy Beaver joined the True Value co-op in 2015.

Owners Dave and Lori Ables started Three Sons’ Hardware in 1974. In 1998, they moved the business to a newly built store at its current location. In 2013, the store was completely renovated to the Destination True Value format. In 2014, they expanded their product line and added an outdoor Garden Center with bagged mulch and live plants in a 30×70 greenhouse. The store includes 15,000 square feet of interior retail space with a warehouse, office, and the greenhouse.

The store will be Busy Beaver’s fifth location in Ohio. The retailer just announced the May 24, 2019 opening of a new store in the Calcutta/East Liverpool, area and has been operating other locations in Ashtabula, Canton, and Salem.

In addition to the recent opening of Elkins, WV and its upcoming Calcutta, OH opening, Busy Beaver is expanding its footprint into central Pennsylvania with openings planned for Chambersburg, PA and Red Lion, PA in the fall of this year.
