On a mission
Columbiana County Career and Technical Center senior Lindsey Hall, a student in the Health Academy from Southern Local, recently took part in a homeless mission. Hall is completing her senior capstone project on poverty, and in conjunction with it, she is completing a community outreach program as part of the SkillsUSA state competition. She collected non-perishable food items, toiletries and other necessities during a supply drive. On Feb. 23, Hall and members of the Christian Assembly Family Church of Ohioville, Pa., went on a homeless mission trip to Pittsburgh to distribute the donations. While there, they had the opportunity to talk with some of the homeless people about their struggles and how poverty has affected their lives. This was a learning experience for Hall and she and two of her classmates will be presenting what they learned at the state SkillsUSA competition in Columbus on April 16-17.
