Local man pleads guilty on four counts

LISBON — Charles E. Weyand Jr., 43, state Route 154, Lisbon, pleaded guilty in Common Pleas Court on Thursday to two counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition.

Court documents stated between June 1, 2017 and Nov. 1, 2017, Weyand engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13, with at least some of the sexual abuse offenses beginning before the child’s 10th birthday.

Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones said at the time of sentencing she intends to ask Judge Scott Washam to impose a 15-year total prison sentence. Additionally, Weyand would be considered a Tier III sexual offender, required to register his address every 90 days in person for the rest of his life and forbidding him from living within 1,000 feet of any school or daycare facility.

Weyand had initially considered requesting immediate sentencing, but instead a pre-sentencing investigation was ordered and sentencing was set for March 15.

The maximum sentence for the charges could be up to 32 years if all the counts were to run consecutively.

Weyand is also facing a theft charge in an unresolved case in front of Judge Megan Bickerton. That charge contends he had a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer belonging to Audra Dean in November and December 2017, selling the vehicle, which belonged to his former girlfriend, for scrap without her consent for $80. That case is scheduled for a jury trial on Feb. 27.

Weyand remains in custody at the county jail.
