Dogs Rescued

It’s not quite clear whether East Liverpool firefighter Derek Sullivan (right) is clutching this dog, or the dog is clutching Sullivan, as he and other firefighters used an aerial to reach this and another dog which had climbed into the upper floor of a burned-out house on College Street Wednesday afternoon. The house burned Oct. 1, the first time firefighter Joshua Coil (left) responded to a fire after being hired. Also assisting on the rescue of the dogs were firefighters Dave Phillips and Travis Bricker, who returned the dogs to their home up the street. Neighbors reported having seen the dogs on the upper floor for about two hours before Diana Dalrymple, the owner of homes across the street, came to check on her properties and called the fire department, telling firefighters,“They just didn’t call the right people. I knew you guys would come.” (Submitted photos)
