Men charged in EL shooting appear in court

EAST LIVERPOOL — Two brothers charged in connection with a downtown shooting over the weekend appeared in Municipal Court Thursday, where one was sentenced and the other bound over to a higher court.

During a pretrial, William Frank Show, 31, 537 1st Street, pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm and was sentenced to 160 jail days. The court noted he is not a candidate for probation, with none imposed.

His brother, William Earl Show, 722 Green Lane, appeared for a preliminary hearing, where he pleaded not guilty to felonious assault, a second degree felony, and was bound over to Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

A motion by William E. Show’s public defender to have his $100,000 cash/surety bond amended was denied by Judge Melissa Byers Emmerling.

He was ordered to have no contact with alleged victim Christopher Craft nor to have firearms or ammunition.

According to police, William Earl Show was driving a vehicle Oct. 14 in Green Lane with his brother, William Frank Show, as a passenger, when Craft confronted Frank Show. Police allege that William Earl Show took a handgun from the console and shot Craft in the abdomen through the passenger window.

As Craft ran from the scene, William Frank Show fired another handgun into the air above Green Lane in an attempt to scare off people who were in the area, resulting in the charge of discharging a firearm.

William Earl Show also allegedly exited the vehicle and fired additional shots to the rear of the vehicle. He was charged with felonious assault in relation to the alleged wounding of Craft, who was treated and released from a Pittsburgh facility.
