Area man rescued after arm trapped
CALCUTTA — Firefighters from Calcutta and Glenmoor responded Monday to a residence on Winston Drive for a man whose hand had become stuck while working on a vehicle.
According to St. Clair Township Police Sgt. Scott Mick, the man was working on the engine when it fell onto his arm and hand, entrapping it. He was unable to remove his arm for several hours, according to Mick.
Someone arrived at his home and heard him shouting for help, Mick reported. He said the fire department was called, and firefighters used air bags to lift the engine, freeing the man’s arm.
According to Mick, the man declined medical treatment, although ambulances were at the scene along with township police officers.
