MIDLAND, Pa. — Sisters are keeping Best of Show honors in the family at the Midland Arts Council Summer Gallery. At the opening night awards reception Tuesday, Nancy Wright of Chester, W.Va., was announced as best of show winner for 2025. Last year her sister Joyce Beatty, also of Chester, took home the top prize.
The Summer Gallery is free and open to the public through Sunday. Hours are 6 to 8 p.m. daily.
Wright’s painting, titled “Friendship,” is of a young girl in a white frock and white hat, seen from the back. It is among 80-some paintings on exhibit in the Council’s 20th Summer Gallery in the atrium of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland.
Second place, the Merit Award, went to Kathleen Miller for “Peace.”
Third place, the Juror’s Award, went to Marge Gardner for her painting “Old Economy, Ambridge.”
Honorable mentions were won by Ellie Gimbus, Gina Judy and Linda Sant’Eufemia.
As featured artist, a selection of Joyce Beatty’s paintings are on display in this years’s show.
