May Lions Club Scholar of the Month

Kensington McConnachie is a senior at Oak Glen High School and is the May 2025 Lions Club Scholar of the Month. Kensington is the daughter of Steven and Erin McConnachie. She resides in Chester, West Virginia.

Kensington is a four-year letterman of the track and field and basketball team. She is a two-year letterman of the soccer team. She was named OVAC first team in soccer and basketball during her senior year and three years in track and field. Kensington has been a two-year OVAC champion in long jump as well as a one-time OVAC champion in the 4×100 and 4×200. She also was a two-time state champion in long jump and won a state title in the 4×100. Kensington is a six-time state placer. She is also a member of the Eastern Ohio Speed & Agility Academy, EOSAA track and field team.

Kensington is also involved in other school extracurricular activities like Key Club, Pep Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Prom Committee, Culture Club, National Honor Society and Student Council. Kensington serves as the Senior class secretary as well as she National Honors Society secretary. She was a four-year member of the Homecoming Court, Junior Prom Court Attendant, and Senior Prom Queen. Kensington was a graduate of the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program and West Virginia Girl Sate. She has been a volunteer coach with Pegasus Track Club for the past four years. She is currently ranked third in her class with a 4.16, while taking college and honors courses.

Kensington plans to attend Frostburg State University. She will be attending on a track and field scholarship where she also plans to study elementary education.
