Garden to Pantry Food Preservation classes
NEW CUMBERLAND –The Hancock County Community Educational Outreach Service will be holding the first of its Garden to Pantry Food Preservation classes on June 5. The class will take place from 5-8 p.m. at 4-H Camp Aura, located at 147 Camp Aura Lane, New Cumberland.
Hosted by the Newview CEOS club, the first lesson is how to make jams and jellies, and preserve them with water bath canning. Participants will make jam, prepare the jars, and process them using the water bath method of canning. Each participant will take home the jar of jam that they made.
Cost for the class is $15 and must be received no later than one week prior to the class. Checks should be made out to Newview CEOS Club, and mailed to Becky Wiegers, Treasurer, 59 Aberdeen Road, Chester, WV 26034.
There will be two other classes to follow: Water Bath & Pressure Canning on June 19, and Freezing & Dehydrating on July 10. All classes will be held at Camp Aura and will cost $15. Anyone who participates in all three classes will get $10 off the total price.
