SALINEVILLE — Southern Local Jr. High School senior Jazzmen Echols was honored as the Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month for January.

Echols, the daughter of Jenny Echols of Salineville, has demonstrated excellent academic performance at Southern Local by earning a 3.63 GPA and ranking 21st in her class. She has been on the yearbook staff for the past two years and is a member of the National Honor Society, Art Club, National Society of High School Scholars, Southern Local Choir and Kent State University Rising Scholars and she will receive a full scholarship for her participation in the latter program.

Upon graduation, Echols plans to attend Kent State and earn a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
