LISBON – Alexis Jones is the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center’s January Student of the Month.
Alexis is a senior from East Palestine High School and is enrolled in the Health Academy (HA) Program under the instruction of Pam Dawson. Alexis is a member of the SkillsUSA Chapter at the CCCTC. In addition, she is a member of 4-H.
Alexis has work experience at both Assumption Village in North Lima where she is using the knowledge she gained from the CCCTC by working as an STNA. She also works as a cook and cashier at Garwood Arena in Columbiana.
Alexis has earned certifications in First Aid-CPR, OSHA-10, and has earned her STNA license from the Ohio Department of Health. She is currently working toward and should earn her patient care technician certification and phlebotomist certification by the time she graduates in May. Her goals are to continue to get good grades and graduate with the long-term goal of securing employment in a hospital setting. She intends to reach those goals by continuing her education at Kent State University- Salem Regional Campus to earn a BSN and then further continue her education to obtain her goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.
Alexis stated, “Attending the CCCTC was the right choice for me because it gave me a head start with my career and has allowed me to get a job doing what I have always dreamed of since I was very young.”
Alexis was nominated by Dawson, who stated, “Alexis is a wonderful student and is very conscientious and hard-working. She is extremely busy outside of school with work and extracurricular activities. Instead of making excuses about being busy and not having time to complete her work, Alexis is diligent, uses her time wisely in class, and gets her work turned in early. Alexis demonstrates an unwavering commitment to her studies and has a passion for learning and doing her best. She is a valued member of the Health Academy program and carries these same characteristics over into her work place. It is apparent how passionate she is about her job and providing the best care possible to her residents. I look forward to watching Alexis on this journey as she continues to mature and grow. She is a remarkable young lady.”
Alexis is the daughter of Leslie and Jennifer Jones.
