Tri State Free Methodist Camp marks 100th year
This marks the 100th year for the Tri State Free Methodist Camp on Anderson Boulevard in East Liverpool, which will be in session from July 7 through 17.
The Rochester District of the Pittsburg Conference of the Free Methodist Church was established in the fall of 1896 its annual camp meeting sessions were held at various locations and times for the following 25 years within the TriState area it represented. In 1922, the first camp meeting was held on the permanent grounds in Dixonville of East Liverpool
Pastor Jay Geistdorfer of the Owega Church of the Nazarene in New York will teach daily Bible Study at 10 a.m. and evangelistic preaching at 7 p.m. each evening in the Tabernacle. Nightly worship music will be provided by the Worship team from East Liverpool, St Clair Ave. First Free Methodist Worship Team. Youth and children classes are offered at the same times. Nursery services are available for evening worship.
Daily activities are offered on various days including swimming, family game night, open golf, craft class, communion service, adult Euchre tournament, spikeball tournament, Friday Red, White and Blue night, adult corn hole tournament and a Saturday baptism service at Thompson Park Swimming Pool.
Cabin and dorm rooms are available for rental. Meals are inexpensively served three times a day. There is also a snack shop and “Christmas in July” shop with a variety of items for sale. Contact Kylie at 740 340 8558 for reservations and additional questions.
Lepper Library offering 2 Story Strolls
Lepper Library is offering two Story Strolls; the first along the Greenway Trail now through July 8 and the second along the northwest corner of the Lisbon Square July 8 through 16. During the second Story Stroll, Lepper Library will present Turtle Splash! by Cathryn Falwell. Strollers will count down as 10 startled turtles one-by-one make a splash in the pond. Along the Greenway Trail they can find the Story Stroll beyond the ‘0’ mile marker. Each Story Stroll ends with a take and make craft. This Story Stroll is made possible with the help of the Columbiana County Park District and the Village of Lisbon. Those who have signed up for the Summer Reading Program can count this on their Reading Log.
Children’s programs are Mondays at 11 a.m. July 11 features Sharks, July 18 Explore the Shore and July 25 the Summer Reading Finale, a two-hour program including an Italo’s Pizza Party and OSU Extension Columbiana County Tin Foil Boat races.
East Liverpool trash collection set for holiday
East Liverpool trash will be collected from city residences Monday as the Refuse and Recycling Department employees are scheduled to work on Monday, July 4. Residents whose trash is normally collected on Monday are asked to have their bags and cans set out at the curb for pick up as usual.
