Spring in Columbiana County

Bicyclists will again celebrate spring with a long-standing annual touring tradition in Columbiana County Sunday. The tour, known as Spring in Columbiana County, Ohio (SICCO), originated in 1995 and is sponsored by the Out-Spokin’ Wheelmen bicycling club. The regional event, in which all cyclists are invited to ride, will begin at 8 a.m. at Firestone Park, 347 E. Park Ave.

The main cycling route is a flat-to-rolling 35-mile loop through small towns and scenic countryside, which includes the Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail. Participants will ride at their own pace during the 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. event, with support vehicles available for riders needing assistance. A snack stop will be at the rail station in historic downtown Lisbon.

When they complete the 35-mile loop, riders will receive a Pizza Hut lunch. After that, participants will have the option of riding an additional rolling-to-hilly 28-mile loop for a total of 63 miles.

The $20 ride fee includes the snack and lunch. Helmets are mandatory.

Riders may register online at outspokinwheelmen.com or in person from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday at Firestone Park.
