Riverview Cemetery notice

The Riverview Cemetery superintendent has extended the usual time period of March 1 for removal of decorations until Friday, March 5 due to the gate being closed for snow/ice removal on roads. Any Christmas arrangements, wreaths, etc., remaining after March 5 will be discarded. Any questions/concerns, call 330-385-9262 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

Lisbon Cemetery notice

The Lisbon Cemetery has extended the usual time period of March 1 for removal of decorations until Wednesday, March 10 due to the snow and icy conditions. Any Christmas arrangements, wreaths, etc. remaining on the ground after March 10 will be discarded. Any questions/concerns, call 330-424-7970 between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. weekdays. Fixed saddles and vases can remain on monuments.

Easter Trunk or Treat

WELLSVILLE — The Eyes On Wellsville group will be hosting its annual Easter event this year from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at Hammond Park, and they want your help. According to Kari Daniels, due to the pandemic, this year’s event will be a Trunk or Treat Easter funny-style, and they are seeking people to attend the event to pass out candy and decorate their vehicles. Daniels explained, “We are asking for wrapped candy or treats or small toys to be put in treat bags. Monetary donations also are being accepted.” Eyes on Wellsville is a not-for-profit group that organizes a variety of youth-oriented activities for the community, including the annual Easter egg hunt, Haunted Trail and toy drive. Daniels concluded by asking that anyone who wants to participate arrive by 11 a.m. at Hammond Park to get ready. For more information on the event, Daniels can be reached at 330-303-6394.

TMF accepting applications

The annual application period for the Tri-State Area Tuition Mission Foundation (TMF, and formerly Dollars for Scholars) has begun. Applications will be accepted through midnight April 15. Students may apply if they reside in any of the seven districts served by TMF: Beaver Local, East Liverpool, Wellsville, Midland, South Side, Western Beaver and Oak Glen. Students in non-traditional settings, such as online schools or those who are being home-schooled, are also eligible as they reside within one of the aforementioned districts. The application can only be filled out online at TuitionMission.net. Applicants should click on the home page on the “Apply for a Tuition Award” link at the top. If applicants have in front of them the prior year’s tax information, it takes less than 15 minutes to complete the process. Applicants will find out whether or not they’re receiving funding in early to mid-June.

OGHS Little Theatre

Oak Glen High School Little Theatre is currently producing its second show of the season: All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. This show is based on the books by Robert Fulghum and was adapted for the stage by Ernest Zulia. The stories in this play feature characters such as Norman; the boy who cast himself as Cinderella’s personal pig, Larry Walters, who flew up to 11,000 feet using surplus helium balloons and his favorite lawn chair, and Alexander Papaderos, a man who learned to reflect truth, understanding, and knowledge after WWII. Each story offers some humor and a lesson in life.
