Lindsey’s Christmas

Lindsey Salsberry

For the last 13 years The family of Lindsey Salsberry of Wellsville has participated in a toy drive for Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. Over 15,000 gifts have been delivered to the hospital. Due to COVID, the pasta dinner and Chinese auction used to raise funds had to be canceled. The only toy donation the hospital can accept are direct shipments from stores or vendors.

Due to COVID this year gifts directly to the hospital are not possible. However the hospital has set up a webpage dedicated to Lindsey to allow those that are interested to donate.

Lindsey was the salutatorian of Wellsville’s graduation class of 2004. She was diagnosed with a rare nerve cancer at the end of her freshman year at WVU. She was able to receive her treatment at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital despite her age of 19 at the time. In the 22 months she fought her cancer, she endured countless surgeries, treatments and procedures always keeping her infectious smile on her face.

On her last Christmas, she mentioned a young girl she had befriended who had to spend Christmas Day in the hospital. She wished she could have gotten her a gift. Her friends and family have made that wish come true for so many children over the last 13 years. Up until this past year there has been a toy drive that has brought several thousand gifts for the children.

To donate for Lindsey’s Christmas the hospital has set up this website:
