Medication Drop-off Program

On Saturday, October 24, the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be held in communities across America, including Columbiana County, to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.

Locally, area residents will have an opportunity to drop off their unused, unwanted or expired medications on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at two locations as follows:

East Liverpool

East Liverpool City Hospital- Main Entrance

425 W. Fifth Street

Salem

Salem Police Department

231 S. Broadway

How to participate

– Area residents will remain in their cars and hand off the unwanted medications to local law enforcement officers, who will be the only staff handling the medications. No requests for identification will be asked.

– Unwanted capsules or tablets may be kept in their original containers or removed from the original container.

– If an original container is disposed, please try to remove any personal identifying information from the prescription label.

This one-day medication collection effort is being sponsored by the ADAPT Coalition (330-424-0531), Columbiana County Drug Task Force (330-424-0309) and local law enforcement jurisdictions, Col. Cty. Health Dept. (330- 424-0272), Col. Cty. Mental Health & Recovery Services Board (330-424-0195), E. Liverpool City Health Dept. (330-385-7900), Family Recovery Center (330-424-1468), E. Liverpool City Hospital (330-385-7200), Salem City Health Dept. (330-332-1618), Salem Regional Medical Center (330-332-7152), and Heritage Thermal. These organizations are collaborating on this county-wide event to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from people’s homes.

Columbiana County residents can also visit the following locations, open 24/7*, to dispose of unwanted medications in a locked medication drop-off box at these police departments, no questions asked:

Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office: 8473 County Home Road in Lisbon

Columbiana Police Department: 28 South Vine Street in Columbiana

East Liverpool Police Department: 126 W. 6th Street in East Liverpool

East Palestine Police Department: 75 E. Main Street in East Palestine

Leetonia Police Department, 300 Main Street in Leetonia

Lisbon Police Department: 203 N. Market Street in Lisbon

Salem Police Department: 231 S. Broadway in Salem

*St. Clair Township Police Department: 15442 Pugh Road, Suite 1 in Calcutta
