EL alumni set basement sale

East Liverpool Alumni Association will hold its basement sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the clock tower downstairs. Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. after Sept. 10. For more information, call 330/385-0591.

Chester to clean up Saturday

The Chester Beautification Committee will host a community litter cleanup from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Volunteers will meet at the municipal building. All supplies (bags, gloves and grabbers) will be provided. For information contact committee president Dustin Lang at 304-387-3387.

Library offers jam, jelly class

The Salem Public Library will host Zoom jams and jellies cooking class from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 by one of the chefs from Red Stick Spice Company of Baton Rouge, La. Attendees will learn jelly and jam making recipes with a touch of southern influence. This class is free. Registration is required at www.salem.lib.oh.us or 332-0042.

Meet the Candidates/Debate

You are invited to Meet the Candidates/Debate, 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at Cove Presbyterian Church (Fellowship Hall), 3404 Main Street, Weirton. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. and we have invited the following electors: Hancock County Commissioner, WV Senate District 1, Prosecuting Attorney, Attorney General, Delegates for the 1st District, US Congress District 1, Commissioner of Agriculture, and WV Secretary of State. Township needs fiscal officer

People can be a hero this Saturday

The Family Recovery Center is inviting people to Salem”s Second Saturday, set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 in the parking lot adjacent to the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and across from Lyle Printing on East State. FRC, along with a variety of other local organizations funded by United Way, have come together to provide harm reduction resources for you and your family. The theme of this event is “Be a Hero” as people are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero and help to give back to the community. Captain America will also be in attendance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to distribute goody bags to all the young superheroes. The content of these bags will include activities that are fun for the whole family.
