A little barbecue and tractor pulls

The Beaver Creek Sportsmen Club in Washingtonville will hold a carryout barbecue chicken dinner from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. Cost is $9 (dark meat) and $10 (breast). Each dinner also includes parlsey potatoes, green beans, cole slaw and dinner roll. To order, call 330/921-9947. Also that weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, the club will hold garden tractos. Weigh-ins begin at 10 a.m. with the event beginning at noon. For information, call the above number.

FRC joins Second Saturday

The Family Recovery Center is inviting people to Salem’s Second Saturday, set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 2 in the parking lot adjacent to the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and across from Lyle Printing on East State. FRC, along with a variety of other local organizations funded by United Way, have come together to provide harm reduction resources for you and your family. The theme of this event is “Be a Hero” as people are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero and help to give back to the community. Captain America will also be in attendance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to distribute goody bags to all the young superheroes. The content of these bags will include activities that are fun for the whole family.

Grief support session slated

Lake Mount Church of Christ, 6290 SR 7, New Waterford, is hosting a 13-week session of GriefShare beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. This group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and want to help you through the difficult days ahead. Cost of the program is $5 to cover workbook and materials. Library will hold ASL classes

American Sign Language classes will be offered to the adult public with instruction provided by Elexis Blake of Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties on the following dates: Sept. 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, Oct. 1, 6, and 8. Times are 6:30-7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Registration and an email address are required for the classes which are free of cost to attend. Registration may be done at www.salem.lib.oh.us or 322-0042.
