Dawson guest speaker at Calcutta Lions Club

CALCUTTA — The Calcutta Lions Club met for their regular meeting on March 10. Lion Marianne Wolf lead the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. Twenty-three members were in attendance. The special guest speaker for this evening (pictured) was Dike Dawson of the Dawson Funeral Home.

Lion Carissa Grady began the evening with newspaper fines, good things and jokes.

Lion Sharon Hall handed out minutes to the Feb. 11 meeting and they were accepted as submitted. King Lion Wayne read a thank you from the Christina House for our monetary donation.

Lion Nancy Hadley informed members that the next bingo was held at Crossroads on March 16.

Lion Sharon Hall stated things are moving along with the pasta dinner fundraiser and tickets are still available to sell before the event. The event will be held at Two Smart Cookies from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26. Tickets are $9 and includes spaghetti dinner with meatballs, rolls, salad and tea, coffee or water.

Lion Gary Freeh is gearing up for the Duck Race to be held at the Memorial Day Even at Calcutta Square in May. More information will be available soon.

Lion Janet Christen stated we will be voting on the nominees for officer positions within our club at the next meeting on March 24.

King Lion Wayne won the 50/50. Lion Sharon made a motion to adjourn at 8:07 p.m.
