New Cumberland Lions meet

NEW CUMBERLAND — The New Cumberland Lions Club met Jan. 28. President Joyce Young brought the meeting to order. Lion Pam Stiles offered the prayer and Lion Jeff Fawcett led the Pledge of Allegiance.

President Young discussed the upcoming soup night which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11.

The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as read.

The treasurer’s report was placed on file for audit.

Communications were received from Camp Horseshoe — Youth Leadership Association, Canada/USA Lions, and Celebrate Recovery.

Lion Bob Manypenny provided the dates for the 2020 pulled pork takeout sales to be held in the Swaney Library parking lot. This year the sales will be April 25, May 23, June 27, July 25, and Aug. 22. The September 26 and 27 pulled pork take out will be at the New Cumberland River Fest.

President Joyce Young stated that the Zone Meeting will be Feb. 12 at Mario’s Restaurant in Weirton. Anyone may attend but please RSVP to Zone Chair Bernice Pitcock prior to the event.

The New Cumberland Hall of Fame will be Feb. 2 at the Christian Church. Cookie donations are needed.

The District conference will be March 14 at Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg.

President Young attended the Leadership Retreat on Jan. 25 with Lion Cole Young and Lion Sally Greathouse. She reported on the seminars they attended.

President Young presented Centennial Membership certificate to new Lion Lee Alleman and a Centennial Sponsor Certificate to Lion Brian Webster. With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned.
