Alpha Tau

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Alpha Tau chapter (WV) of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its February meeting at the Trinity United Methodist Church in New Cumberland. Amanda Fisher, President, called the meeting to order.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, Chaplain Kathy Griffith read 1 Corinthians 13. Roll call was taken and the minutes were approved as distributed. Treasurer Fran Jones gave the financial report. Committee reports were given which included information from the nominating committee on a slate of officers for the next biennium. Delegates for the state convention, which will be held at Canaan Valley Resort in April, were elected. Members participated in a silent auction with the proceeds being donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Hostesses for the meeting were Shirley Washam and Michelle McHaffie. The next meeting will be held March 10 in New Cumberland.

Tops 1957

WELLSVILLE — TOPS 1957 of Wellsville met on Feb. 4 at the Living Well Church with leader Connie Hissam opening the meeting with pledges, roll call and then Mary Schmidt led the group in prayer.

TOPS best loser was Schmidt. KOPS best loser was Sally Workman and Donna Lee wore the officers ribbon. The dimes will carry over. Marci Anderson was the best loser for January and Schmidt was a close second. Schwartz also recognized for having 20 pounds off. The no-nos for the week are chocolate and ice cream.

A correction to the minutes for Jan. 28 is that Peggy Kiddey ran the meeting.

Diane Carnegies birthday was celebrated with a card shower.

Debbie Plunkett gave the program titled “The blue zone solution.”

Hissam closed the meeting wishing all a good week.
