ºNEW CUMBERLAND — The Community Educational Outreach Service will meet this Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Hancock County Senior Center on Gas Valley Road, at 11 a.m. for lunch, followed by their regular monthly meeting at noon.

This month’s lesson, to be presented by Janet Keller, is “Covered Bridges of West Virginia” and is meant to increase the awareness and preservation of these historic structures. It is also designed to educate people on the history surrounding the state’s 17 covered bridges, and to help promote tourism. For February’s project, club members will be collecting fleece throws to be made into cat and doggie beds at the Hancock County Animal shelter. They will also be taking donations of old towels, sheets, blankets, etc. to be used in the shelter’s sick room.

As always, the public is invited to attend the lesson (and the meeting, if they like) free of charge. For those wishing to join club members for lunch, the standard Senior Center fee of $5 will apply.
