EAST LIVERPOOL — TOPS 1390 met on Nov. 19 at the Oakland Free Methodist Church located at 1551 Etruria Street. The meeting opened with pledges.
Minutes and treasurer’s report from the Nov. 5 meeting were read and approved. The Nov. 12 meeting was canceled due to bad weather.
Jonnie Carnes was the weekly best loser and Vesta Ferlaino was the runner-up.
Pie is the no-no for the week.
Ferlaino was the monthly best loser for October and received her dues paid for December and Wanda Price was the runner-up.
Carnes was recognized for coming in with a loss after being best loser on Nov. 5 and Mildred Elliott was recognized for being in leeway for six weeks in a row.
Elliott won the calorie chart drawing, Karen Brereton won the 50/50 drawing and the dimes were held over.
Carnes won the check contest and the contest “Trim Your Tree as we Trim Our Waistlines” continues. A new check contest will begin next week.
A card was signed and sent to Florence Smith who is recovering from surgery.
Members are to bring in Christmas decorations and one or more healthy snacks for the gift basket raffle. The drawing will be on Dec. 17.
The annual Christmas Party will be held at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Dottie’s Diner. Weigh-in will be from 3:45-4:15 p.m.
Price read the poem “On Top of My Body” and played Thanksgiving Bingo with everyone and presented prizes to the winners: Brereton, Elliott and Ferlaino.
The chapter meets every Tuesday with weigh-in at 4 p.m. Visitors, new and former members are always welcome. Any questions, contact our leader at 330-385-2736.
The meeting closed with prayer requests and the Lord’s Prayer.
WELLSVILLE — TOPS 1957 of Wellsville met on Nov. 5 at the Living Well Church with leader Connie Hissam opening with pledges, roll call and then Mary Schmidt led the group in prayer.
TOPS best losers were Debbie Plunkett and Brenda Young. KOPS best loser was Mary Jarvis and Young wore the officers ribbon. Jarvis also won the calorie chart drawing. Peggy Kiddey won the dimes. Connie Hissam was the biggest loser for the month of October and she also won the predicted weight loss for the month.
Jarvis donated a scarecrow that was won by Nancy Hart.
The no-nos for the week are cookies and no snacking of any kind. Drink four eight ounces glasses of water a day.
A resume workshop will be held on Dec. 7 at the Methodist Church in Damascus.
Jarvis announced new additions to the contest, exercise three times a week, biggest loser next week gets an extra point, walk for 15 minutes a day and those with fitbits add 300 steps to your goal.
Debbie Plunkett gave the program titled, “Life Extension”, how probiotics can protect you.
An added note to the Oct. 29 minutes is that Barb M planned a fun Halloween party that was enjoyed by all members and most members dressed up. The costume category winners were prettiest, Norma Rodgers; Ugliest, Alice Eckstein; Scariest, Barb Tranter and most original was Gladys Buzzard.
Tranter read a funny tidbit and Hissam closed the meeting wishing all a good week.
