Edison to host open houses
HAMMONDSVILLE — Edison Local Schools will host open houses on Sept. 10 to showcase facilities to students’ families.
Events will be held from 4:30-730 p.m. at Stanton Elementary in Hammondsville, John Gregg Elementary in Bergholz and Edison High School in Richmond and attendants can learn what each building has to offer.
Stanton Elementary Principal Shannah Scotch said students and their families will have a casual evening of visiting classes and meeting with the teachers, while John Gregg. Principal Tammy Burchfield noted that her school will include booths in the gym featuring different topics.
“The theme is ‘It’s All About the Kids’ and we will have someone talk about bullying,” Burchfield said. “We will also have booths for voter registration, family fitness, Destination Imagination, literacy, coping skills and other subjects.”
Like Stanton, she said parents will have a chance to visit classrooms and meet their child’s teacher while also finding out what students are learning.
EHS Principal Matt Morrison said the open house provided an opportunity for families to become acclimated with the junior-senior high facility and staff.
“It’s open for classroom visits and they can come and see the teachers,” he said. “We encourage everybody to come.”
