Democratic Women hold monthly meeting
WEIRTON, W.Va. — The Hancock County Federation Of Democratic Women held their monthly meeting on Aug. 19 at Giovanni’s Family Restaurant with
President Kathy Link calling the meeting to order, welcoming those in attendance and leading the Pledge Of Allegiance.
Silent attendance was taken.
Secretary Teresa McCombs read the minutes of the August meeting and the same were accepted with corrections.
Treasurer Debbie Caine read the treasurer’s report, which will be filed for audit.
There were no Chairmen Reports.
The annual meeting will be held at Double Tree By Hilton in Huntington, W.Va. on Sept. 13-15. President Link and Marianne Turkal will attend. President Link advised that she mailed the stipend of $2 per capita to the State.
Fundraising ideas at the New Cumberland River Festival on Sept. 28-29 were discussed. President Link advised that she filled out an application and paid the fee for a booth at the River Festival. It was decided to extend the deadline of the Summer 50/50 Raffle to Sunday, Sept. 30 when the winner will be announced at the River Festival. The winner need not be present and will be contacted by telephone.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 23 at the Giovanni’s Family Restaurant, Pennsylvania Avenue, in Weirton with dinner at 5 p.m., if you desire to eat and the business meeting at 6 p.m.
The Federation welcomes new members. In order to promote membership, Chair Stacy Angelo is hosting a membership drive and welcoming new members. We presently have 25 members. Prospective members must be a Democrat who resides in Hancock County. The annual dues are $10 per person payable upon joining. The meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at Giovanni’s Family Restaurant.
