NEW CUMBERLAND — During the meeting of The New Cumberland Lions Club, in the absence of President Tom Stiles, First Vice President Joyce Young opened the meeting with a poem by Helen Steiner Rice, “A Memorial Day Prayer”. Lion Rick Tinsky offered the prayer and Lion Pam Stiles led the Pledge of Allegiance. The guest was Holden Smith from Helping Heroes, a center for Veteran resources that includes transitional housing and supportive services for veteran families serving Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Ohio and Wetzel counties. The minutes were accepted as read and the treasurer’s report was placed on file. A thank you was received from Oak Glen High School for the donation to the Food Service Program. Members were asked to note the expiration date of their food handler cards and those without the food handler card were reminded to apply for one. Young presented a silver centennial pin to Richard Blackwell. As there was no further business the meeting was adjourned.
