Garfield to host summer camp

Garfield Elementary is hosting a problem based learning (PLO) summer camp from June 17-21 for upcoming 1st through 3rd graders. PLO has been shown to encourage higher order thinking and increase motivation to learn. It also provides additional opportunities for students to work collaboratively and practice communication and social skills. As a culminating activity, students will host a lemonade sale at the school June 21st. All proceeds will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand: A Foundation for Childhood Cancer. Camp times are as follows: Upcoming 3rd graders 8:30-10:30 a.m., upcoming 2nd graders 11 am.
